There are two issues with the current settings:

  • On restore, Vitess actively modifies MySQL configuration and starts replication, which should not happen with -disable_active_reparents flag set.
  • On backup, certain backup engines (e.g. “builtin”) may similarly modify replica configuration and/or start/stop replication w/o respect to the -disable_active_reparents flag.
