It was not only the spinifex which degrades into dry shrubs.
Now the dry grass is degrading into dry shrubs on desert sand. :D
Also, it is odd that grass can turn into shrubs at all. xD
I wonder if you want to keep the dry shrub in the first place, you don't seem to use it directly, and it's generic name (as opposed to the specific other plants) does not really fit the theme. I think it may be best to remove the dry shrub completely. Your custom plants are much better anyway. :-)
