I always hate to calibrate the RSSI values before the race when you are two groups.

Why not measure the RSSI of each quad when they passes the first time the start/-finish gate like its done by the Delta5 Tracker?

Can't imagine any reliable algorithm of measuring RSSI on-the-fly without any additional tools.
E.g. if for the first time you fly high above the gate should it be chosen as valid RSSI threshold? Or if you fly too close to the laptimer? How would it track further passes if you then fly higher (with lower RSSI)?
