Update documentation to include adding "Callback Redirect URL" #115
Comments
Hmm I am not seeing the same behaviour, both on my dev and prod environments. My callback redirect URL is empty, and I am able to authenticate with both MAL and AniList. Can you confirm what value you have in your config file (to find out where it is, check out this documentation: https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/administration/configuration/)? The file should have a name of |
What error(s) are you getting in your Jellyfin log? They will provide a bit more context as to where the issue is coming from. Also it could still be authenticating successfully, but failing at a later stage. |

I checked it once again It seems like the authentication is working without setting callback redirect URL, but I watched some anime recently and it's not syncing the watch status to any services I authenticated. Even the manual sync is not working. |
It can be easier to look at the logs via Dashboard -> Logs, and if you try to hit the issue again and check the latest log file it should contain a long string with an exception.
The log file will also contain the reason for why it hasn't synced. After watching an episode/movie entirely, check the latest log file. |
I can't point out the errors, maybe you can do it: link (this is thelog file that jellyfin shows in dashboard) |
I found it, this was in another log file: link

Are you able to post your config file (hide any access tokens and client IDs/secrets before posting it)? |
Hmm so the user config is present (I presume you hid the user ID). |
None of the metadata providers mentioned were ticked in jellyfin libraries (but they were installed), so I put thetvdb and anilist in priority and refreshed the metadata for series and movies. I watched some anime but it still wasn't tracking, there are different errors now:

Its falling back to manually searching the API for the anime because the metadata is not present in Jellyfin. I would suggest using the AniDB metadata provider if you aren't already. |
The documentation currently has the following process:
I recently noticed that leaving "callback redirect URL" option empty before authorizing through the generated link you get this error:
"Error processing request" in MAL, anilist etc.
which also has been cause of issues for many users (probably): issue 90 93 50
