Just out of curiosity, is this related to termite scheme[0]?

Gerbil's actors are implemented on top of Gambit's threads and message passing, which I believe are based on the work done in termite.

Looking at the termite code from 2009, it looks like it is based on the same primitives that already exist in Gambit. So, basically, another implementation of similar ideas on top of the same primitives.

termite is another actor system for gambit; as @fare said similar primitives, but otherwise no relation.

v18 actors are significantly more advanced than Termite; termite is a PoC, Gerbil actors are meant to be the industrial version.
