should some (small) examples also be added to the machine-readable version of BOT, e.g. using vann:example?

We sure need clear examples of BOT relations (zone-zone and zone-element), combined with corresponding 3D geometries for both zones and elements. A simple building with most common situations might suffice. They might help to refine and clarify the text definitions of and axioms describing BOT concepts.

Some things that come to my mind:

  • How to model stairwells and stairs?
  • How to model a balcony or accessible roof?
  • what is the spatial extent of
    • a bot:Storey ? (to the inner/center/outer side of external elements such as walls, floors, roofs, windows, etc?)
    • a bot:Building ? (to the inner/center/outer side of external elements such as walls, floors, roofs, windows, etc?)
  • how to model that a bot:Element or bot:Zone is exterior?
  • are two bot:Spaces adjacent when they are separated by a floor element?
  • are two bot:Spaces adjacent when they are separated by a suspended ceiling element, plenum zone and floor element?
  • how to model a wall that is shared by two buildings?
  • how to model the terrain (ground) and the relation to bot:Element(s) and bot:Zone(s)?
  • how to model a window/door hosted in a wall
  • how to model a building element with moving parts, such as an elevator, escalator, shading device, ...?
  • how to model a building system (e.g. ventilation system, heating system, electricity system, etc) consisting of different physical parts: subelements or distinct concept of system to group them?
  • ... (please add your modeling questions below)
