REQ 21a: Expand to make clearer what this REQ means, as noted here in brackets: “Use language (including vocabulary and syntax) that is no more complex than is necessary for clear communication. [Add: This includes using a simple verb tense and simple sentence structure. Avoid unnecessary words, double negatives, and nested clauses.]”
REQ 21c: Please expand on what you mean by “Provide a mode of operation in which simpler language than the default can be requested.” What is the goal? Is it simpler language, or more direct language like removing the personality?
REQ 21d: COGA TF recommends shortening this REQ to avoid unnecessary callout: “Provide definitions or explanations of terms that are likely to be unfamiliar to intended users of the system [remove: , including users who may have learning or cognitive disabilities].
Note after REQ 21d: Please expand this resources section, as noted here in brackets: “See WCAG 2.1 [add: WCAG21], success criteria 3.1.3, 3.1.4, and 3.1.5 [Add:, and Making Content Usable for People With Cognitive and Learning Disabilities, in particular Objective 3: Use Clear and Understandable Content.]”
New User Need and REQ: Add user need about people who have difficulty with numerical concepts (dyscalculia). The REQ could be to let users select a different way of representing numerical concepts that isn’t strictly number-based. E.g., instead of stating the temperature, state that it is “comfortably warm, typically considered t-shirt weather.” (To help build out this user need and REQ, see Making Content Usable’s 4.4.13 Provide Alternatives for Numerical Patterns.)
