Others can correct me, but as far as I know, Chinese uses "para ruby" for some level of educational material as well. I believe I have seen that kind of usage in my elementary school textbooks (although I don't have any right now). |
Technically, the para-ruby's usage scenarios should be more than the general-ruby's. At least in Chinese mainland, the general-ruby (annotating every Han character) is only applied in some materials for specific educational purposes and so on. |

In Japan, we typically use "Para ruby". Only some of the CJK ideographic characters are accompanied by ruby.

Can I safely assume that Chinese use "General ruby" for educational purposes and do not use "Para ruby"?
