We use dct:format with range dct:MediaTypeOrExtent in several places. Should we emulate DCAT and introduce a prof:mediaType or reuse dcat:mediaType property with a range of just dct:MediaType?

No strong requirement to narrow the scope of this property and we are unwilling to introduce a dependence on DCAT for just 1 property.
