One of the changes in w3c/epub-specs#2134 is to disallow authors from adding custom properties with the rendition: prefix.

In practice, this means only the following are valid in the package metadata:

  • rendition:layout
  • rendition:orientation
  • rendition:spread
  • rendition:viewport (but deprecated)
  • rendition:flow
  • rendition:align-x-center

And only the following are allowed as spine overrides:

  • rendition:layout-pre-paginated
  • rendition:layout-reflowable
  • rendition:orientation-auto
  • rendition:orientation-landscape
  • rendition:orientation-portrait
  • rendition:spread-auto
  • rendition:spread-both
  • rendition:spread-landscape
  • rendition:spread-none
  • rendition:spread-portrait (Deprecated)
  • rendition:page-spread-center
  • rendition:page-spread-left
  • rendition:page-spread-right
  • rendition:flow-paginated
  • rendition:flow-scrolled-continuous
  • rendition:flow-scrolled-doc
  • rendition:flow-auto
