This is a tracking issue for media use cases for Web of Things (WoT).

At TPAC 2019, Ikeo-san (NHK) presented an update on Hybridcast, focusing on the Hybridacst Connect and Companion APIs. NHK are developing a Web of Things Thing Description for the Hybridcast Connect and Companion APIs, and showed a demo of this during the breaks.

Next step: M&E IG to follow up with the WoT IG.

M&E IG members are invited to share any Web of Things related use cases of interest. Feel free to add suggestions to this GitHub issue. Two areas to consider are: TV as a control interface for connected appliances in the home, and enabling media devices to be discovered and controlled on a home network (as in DLNA).

We are using a template for the description: https://github.com/w3c/wot-architecture/blob/master/USE-CASES/use-case-template.md

Thanks Michael!

I note that the former Web & TV Interest Group ran a Home Network Task Force, which produced a Note on Requirements for Home Networking Scenarios. Although quite old now, it could be worth revisiting to see how much of this has already been addressed, and if there are new WoT related use cases to add.

The Web of Things Interest Group seeks further input for media related use cases to add to their Use Cases and Requirements document. The Audio/Video section contains a few ideas. Please get in touch if you have use cases to add.
