I believe so but perhaps it requires some discussion again. I recall we had discussed this at some length at the outset of the BP development. A Best Practice isn't necessarily the same as a generally accepted (i.e. popular) pattern and practice. I think this has brought about some confusion - for example, if it's not being used is it a best practice? I believe that we are promulgating a standards-based approach as a best practice - full stop. The reality is that some of the standards that we are promoting in the BP are not (at least yet) generally accepted. The goal of the BP should be to ensure that these standards are more widely deployed/employed. Again, might be worth discussing again to ensure that we are all on the same page.

Originally @6a6d74 and I were careful to only include stuff as best practice when we found evidence of real world use in production environments. This is explained in https://www.w3.org/TR/sdw-bp/#best-practice-criteria. Being 'widely used' was not a criterium, though. It's like the implementation requirement for new standards. They don't have to be widely used yet, but there has to be some place (or two or three) you can point at and say "look. it's being used there".

I would still like to stick to the 'used in production environments' criterium. Otherwise it's not a Best Practice anymore...
