better to add reference to JLReq for background information #19
Comments
Can we simply explain that, for example, "as adding space between characters should be avoided as much as possible in Japanese typesetting", or something like it? It can ether be done in original Japanese (probably better) or just in English translation. |
@xfq pointed that we'd better to add references to mono-ruby, jukugo-ruby etc. |
one possibility pointed by @kidayasuo is to have a sentence with stating terminology to follow the section in JLReq (instead of inserting to all of common(?) terminology in Japanese typography. |
To be added before upcoming release (items already pointed in somewhere during discussion):
For mono-ruby and jukugo-ruby, there is a link to JLReq 3.3.1 in leading text of simple-ruby 1.3 types of ruby. JLreq 3.3.1 has descriptions for types, id213 to id215. Are we better to add links in addition to a link to 3.3.1? |
gone through, and possible additions:
in addition to these, should we add more in-document dfn/refs, like two-step processing? |
That would be useful, I think. |
I think we've added every ones pointed. is it fine to close this @kidayasuo ? (sorry, just I've lost my memory...) |
closing, @kidayasuo agreed to close this (via priv chat). |
For those who are not familiar to Japanese typesetting as background knowledge, we may be better to add reference to JLReq for such background information. Like for "できるだけ 字間を空けないということから," (From principle not to have extra spacing in Japanese composition,) in note "Protrusion of ruby from base characters", we may have a pointer to JLReq's section of kihon-hanmen or solid setting.
Such link of background knowledge could help readers to understand the text smoothly.
