I'm not sure how to review this one because I'm getting confused about the audience for this course. Is this supposed to be focused on writers (like technical writers)? I've been assuming things like icons and colors aren't part of this because a "designer" does that but I see WCAG's filter includes a lot of considerations beyond text (see my comment in #503).

So for instance, I wouldn't think someone in charge of content can control "background audio" and "visuals that help understand the audio", but maybe there are other "content" roles that do have this? However, I don't know of any roles that would include multimedia production and writing content in plain language like what's covered in Module 1. Clarification here would help a lot as we continue to review these.

Hey @MicheleAWilliams-A11y

My recollection from 18 February discussion is that we did want to include content creators different from technical writers. IN the case of audio and video content, TF identified two main scenarios:

  • content creator creates accessible audio and video content from scratch
  • content creator adds accessibility features to existing audio and video content

This LO is mainly to address those who are creating accessible video and audio content from scratch

We may discuss on Friday's meeting if this is the right balance.

Maybe if under learning outcome "create audio and video content with:..." the verb "create" is replaced by "ensure that...", such as "ensure that audio and video content includes:" or a similar formula not related to "creation", might help to clarify? I agree that content authors are not always in charge of providing the accessibility services, but they have to "ensure" that accessibility services are provided/included in their contents.
