The example “Use Parent as Toggle” does not work if there are multiple ‘has-submenu’ items next to each other.
Moving a mouse directly along the menubar from one adjacent to the next adjacent without having a spacer between means that multiple drop downs open simultaneously and do not time-out.
Putting an empty <li></li> between two <li class=”has=submenu”…</li> fixes this – but ONLY when the mouse is moved slowly over the gap.
Someone who does not have any impediment to smooth mouse movement moving the mouse quickly across this gap will still experience the problem unless the gap is quite wide.
