It must be clear which accessibility requirements/WCAG success criterion a rule passes/fails. This also applies to rule groups. We need to ensure that test rule/rule group produces test results that identify the exact success criterion where non-compliance occurs.

Difi is right, this sentence in the Rule Format breaks for rule groups: "Outcomes from an ACT Rule MUST be consistent with the accessibility requirement, e.g. a rule only returns the outcome Fail when the content fails the accessibility requirement." (https://www.w3.org/TR/act-rules-format/#structure-accessibility-requirements).

Implications, as we see it:

  • Rules in a rule group must all be mapped to the same accessibility requirement(s)
  • For rules that are a part of a rule group, it must be clear from the rule itself that it is part of the rule group
  • Outcomes of ACT rules outside of rule groups must be consistent with the accessibility requirement. For rule groups this only applies to the aggregated outcome of the rule group, not the individual rules

My comment is being resolved by updates to the Rule Groups concept: #211 / #214
