Intent sections #224
Comments
Thank you for taking the time to review the WCAG2ICT public draft. Our task force will review your comment and develop a response that we hope will address your concern. The response will be drafted in a comment on this issue, marked DRAFT RESPONSE until the Task Force reaches consensus. |
WCAG2ICT TF response: @melaniephilipp The Intent sections are included via scripts directly from the files in the current WCAG 2.2 repository. It is true that once the WCAG2ICT document is built the intent content becomes static to the content available at that time. We agree, it is not ideal to have stale or outdated information included in the Note, but that won't happen for some time as the Note is under development and the editor's draft is updated frequently. The Intent sections are included due to a WCAG2ICT Task Force decision made on 27 April. At this point in development the Intent content is useful to the Task Force, and hopefully also to reviewers of the document, to ensure guidance we develop is aligned with WCAG's guidance and intent for each of the criteria. It can sometimes highlight where improvements can be made. Based on your feedback, the task force has decided to, at a later point revisit the decision to incorporate the Intent sections. We will explore various options for addressing your concern, documented in Issue #243. However, we do not plan on taking up that issue until closer to the publication of the final WCAG2ICT Note. |
Closing this issue, as the TF has responded. If there is a problem with closing, please reopen with more details for the WCAG2ICT TF to analyze and respond to or open a new issue. Thanks again for your review! |
Since these sections are copied verbatim from the WCAG Understanding docs, please consider removing this content and include a direct link to the Understanding doc instead. This copied info makes the Note more lengthy than is needed and the Understanding docs change periodically so WCAG2ICT will fall out of sync with the Understanding docs over time unless regular maintenance is done.
