Describe the solution you'd like?

I would like the ability to highlight my current prompt so that I can copy my current git branch and paste it somehwere else (specifically messages but maybe I want to search github sometimes)

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

Currently I can't copy my current prompt when trying to select it with a mouse. When I issue a command and create a new block I can copy my old prompt.

Hey @B4Dmonkey , Thanks for submitting, so we don't have the option to copy the prompt via selection, but given how we've implemented the prompt/input editor, you can right-click on the default prompt and copy the entire thing, or just certain parts. Please see more on this here in our Prompt Docs

Closing as a feature for this use case already exists.

👋🏻 Hi @dannyneira

Your suggested workaround unfortunately doesn't work for my use case...

If you see my prompt, it has a git tag and commit (both of which I typically like to copy/paste separately).

Ideally it would be nice if I could copy/paste that rather than having to run something like git rev-parse HEAD | pbcopy to get the commit or git tag | tail -n 1 | pbcopy to get at the tag.

I see what you're saying, it doesn't let you select text on custom prompts, thanks for clearing that up. We have a request here tracking the same #36
Please 👍 + comment on that request to help us gauge the interest in that functionality.

Another workaround you can try is to run a simple command like ls
, then once the prompt is in a block, you can select - right-click - copy like normal. I know it's not ideal but I hope that helps in the meantime.

@dannyneira ah! I didn't actually notice that before! That's good enough for me 🙂

In fact I can just hit <Enter> and it achieves the same effect 👍🏻
