I have some idea for you.
I try to port showtime budgie plugin to gnome-shell extension but it work but not 100% yet.
ShowTime Budgie Desktop plugin write in python3 I but it GTK base.
this extension show clock and date on desktop like conky.
but gnome-shell extension can make something more conky.
Can you make media player widget on desktop like budgie desktop plugin?
if you can do this it mean you make new age of gnome-shell extension.
