Would you like to add the configuration script "AX_PTHREAD" to your build specification?

WeeChat and plugins do not use threads at all (WeeChat is single threaded).
But linking with "-pthread" is needed for some plugins, on some operating systems only.
What would bring the AX_PTHREAD?

I would appreciate if software portability can be easily improved for this implementation detail.
How do you think about to reduce risks for choosing wrong build parameters for such an application programming interface?
