HTML Standard, Developer's Edition subsections are not numbered. For example, subsection 4.12.1 'The script element' is numbered in the table of context but not in the heading of the subsection. It makes referencing the subsection GOTOish.

Although personally I've found section numbers a bit silly in a living standard (including the main one, not the developer's edition), since they change so frequently, we do seem to be inconsistent here. I'm unsure whether we should delete the section numbers from the table of contents, or add them to the body. Thoughts from the community are welcome.
Since you can't rely on them staying the same their convenience as any kind of reference might be limited, but I do occasionally appreciate the numbering in the main standard.. Feels like if I appreciate it in one, I would in the other too, and maybe it would be better to match for consistency if there's a toss up without a clear answer?
