When we have guests, we'll have to get them setup and tell them specific things. It would be beneficial to have that written out beforehand.

Suggested topics:

  • Minimal example podcasts they can listen to to get a feel for our dynamic
  • How to install Discord
    • What will happen after they get the link to our discord server
  • How to get setup with Audacity (they can use any recorder, but it's a suggestion)
    • Advise them on how to avoid extreme clipping
  • Tell them that we love them for coming and speaking with us

Mention that they should check their volume. If it's too loud, their mic may pick it up.

Let's ask Luke what information would have been helpful for him, too.

Move fidgety items away from where you are recording.

Explain that the episodes are edited, so it's fine if you don't speak perfectly. If you take a breath and rephrase your thought, the editor can remove the slip.

"My only feedback would probably be that - just explain the setup and schedule during recording, how to deal with pauses, silences, overlaps if the guest hasn't done a recording before, how the guest is expected to contribute e.g. interview or just chip in whenever" -- Luke
