It's probably worth learning sphinx / rst for this module and getting the documentation up on readthedocs.

nevermind - this is unnecessarily complicated to get running in conda, and I dont' have the time to sink into this right now. maybe in the future but I'm closing this for now... messing around with sphinx shouldn't delay 1.0.0
