Any way to limit the author names (maybe adding et al. at the end)?

I am currently using [tpref show_links="1"] to display the references. However, some of the papers I cite have +10 authors. Is it possible to limit the number of authors and add et al. at the end of the reference?

I'm interested as well in this feature... I'm using tplist though. Some parameter to set the max number of authors would be great.

My knowledge on wordpress, or how to write a plugin is null, otherwise I might try to generate a PR.

If anyone can point more or less where to look or what to do, I can give it a try.
