count and logging intervals (-c, -i) do not seem to work as expected

Hi - I have been using the ported ntpclient software. I find that despite specifying -c and -i (e.g. -c 96 -i 300 = 8 hours, log every 5 minutes), the client does not seem to log at the expected intervals. The first couple intervals appear to be roughly 300 seconds, but then the update intervals seem to be fairly arbitrary. Has any one else experienced this?
