Project summary

For WooCommerce merchants to be able to fully utilize block themes, we need the most important WooCommerce core PHP templates to be available as block templates. This is what we’re looking to achieve with this project.

The initial project scope includes:

  • identifying the most important WooCommerce PHP templates that need to be converted
  • converting each into a basic block (placeholder in the editor; template rendering on the Frontend)
  • creating block templates that make use of the basic blocks
  • ensuring the block templates are available to merchants in any block theme

Project testing notes

As a reminder, if you want to test anything related to Store Editing Templates currently the following two things are necessary:

  • Make make sure you have pulled the latest trunk in WooCommerce so this change and this change are applied and that your version of WooCommerce is 6.0.0 or above.
  • Make sure you have a Block Theme like Tove or TT1 Blocks activated.
  • Make sure that your theme has no WooCommerce block templates otherwise they will be preferred over the Core block templates.
