This was reported internally by someone using Jetpack Free WPAndroid 15.6. (ht @erricgunawan, internal references: p4a5px-2Do-p2, 3330122-zen)
The WordPress app still continues to show me comments that I've deleted a long time ago, and the Jetpack dashboard shows me that I have comments, even though my wordpress-native comment section is cleared out.
At one point of time, I had imported some comments into my jetpack-connected installation of WordPress. Later, I deleted the entire set of comments, but jetpack still continues to have them stored on WordPress.com servers...
They previously imported comments then deleted them later and also uninstalled/reinstalled the Disqus for WordPress plugin and those may be factors worth noting for this particular case. A Jetpack resync was tried and did not seem to help. The app was uninstalled and reinstalled as well.
(internal reference: asked for additional help at 2825-gh-jpop-issues#issuecomment-699097706)
A self-hosted site using Jetpack displays comments in the app that no longer exist on the site (they were deleted).
The comments are not in the WP Admin dashboard, or in Calypso or returned by the WordPress.com REST API.
Reinstalling the app made no difference.
This looks like a caching/syncing issue.
