Expected behavior

When I type part of a tag, and then tap on a suggested tag, that tag should be added.

Actual behavior

Sometimes, when typing part of a tag and then tapping the tag to select it, the tag isn’t entered correctly. Instead, something from autocorrect appears.
It’s a little tricky to reproduce, because it depends on your tags and autocompletes suggestions.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open a new blog post and type something in it
  2. Tap “…” > “Post Settings” > Tags and start typing the beginning of tags.
  3. Watch the autocomplete suggestions for one that gets highlighted.
  4. Tap the suggested tags, and see that the highlighted autocomplete is used instead. Leftover letters from the tag may also be added.

This one’s a bit hard to reproduce, see gifs below for a sense of what I mean.
My best luck has been with trying to get autocorrect to suggest something that’s spelled differently (such as recommending “hi” for “hu…”) or something shorter than the tag. The important thing though is that autocorrect highlights the suggestion - autocorrect really wants to use this one.

The one I’ve been able to do most often is “hi” and selecting “hugs_me” (a tag where I keep happy user interactions). Sometimes I need to type “hi” a few times to convince autocorrect that’s really want I’d like to say, then go back and type “hu” and wait for autocorrect to suggest “hi”.
I also had good like with “I” for “TIL”. Type just ‘i’, and autocorrect will almost always suggest “I”.

Here's what that looks like for "hi" and "i" - notice that the suggestion is highlighted:

I was able to reproduce on 17.0 beta, although it was tricky to do and I had to resort to creating a hugs_me tag! 😄
I'm sure there are other ways of reproducing this, but my goal here was to check if this issue is still reproducible.
Here's a video of the bug on 17.0 beta on an iPhone 11:
