[GlobalStep] “Press This” both opens the Post Editor in WebView and opens the current page in Safari #13431

Description

Pressing the “Press This” button while viewing a post causes the Post Editor to be open in WebView while also opening the current page in Safari.

Reproduction Rate

4/4 100%

Expected behavior

The current page should not be loaded in Safari.

Actual behavior

Besides the expected behavior, Safari opens to display the current page being displayed in WordPress.

Steps to reproduce the behavior

  1. Install WordPress 14.2
  2. Log in to an account.
  3. Select Blog Posts.
  4. Press View on an existing Post.
  5. Press “Press This”.
Tested on the following

iPhone XR (12.0.1)

I am able to recreate this and noticed that selecting that button opens the editor in Safari. I'm not sure what the suggested fix for this should be. Potentially we could disable these buttons based on a flag from the Apps. However, I'm not sure the effort is worth the fix.

EDIT: Whatever solution we decide on here should be considered alongside #13711
