New Zealand added a new holiday, which is called Matariki. The timing of the holiday varies each year, and falls on the closest Friday to the Tangaroa lunar calendar period of the correct calendar month. This means that the date is not calculable relative to fixed dates, so the dates for the holiday for the next 30 years have been set in the legislation, as follows:
This schedule sets out the date in June or July each year on which Te Rā Aro ki a Matariki/Matariki Observance Day is to be observed.
