Improve APA style: remove period after article title that ends in question mark #1833

Two things would be great: 1) removing the period after article titles that end in a question mark (leading to such titles being displayed as "Why is this happening?.") and 2) adding journal volume and page numbers.

I have tried modifying, for example, li_list.html in my root partials folder but the netlify deploy fails on these.

Thanks for your consideration.

I don't mind taking a look at this:) But before I do, I would like to clarify a few things:

  1. I'm assuming you're using the pages.html partial to display some publications? Why are you using the list option and not the publication option, which is meant for displaying publications?
  2. You would like to have explicit pages and volume parameters, along with title etc.?
  3. Do we agree that this is the preferred APA style:
    Lastname, A. B., Lastname, C. D., & Lastname, E. F. (YEAR). <Title>. <Journal>, <vol>, <pages>.

Maybe it's better to write a new publication specific widget. This way all possible display options (list, compact, card & citation) could support multiple reference styles, i.e. APA, MLA, Nature, Science, etc. And #1989 could be integrated as well.

Closing as the issue has been open for over a year with no contributions and little-no interest from the community.

PRs are welcome if anyone comes across this and wishes to contribute an improvement.
