Hi Patrick,

Thanks for taking over this plugin! I posted on the plugin's support page at wordpress.org a couple months ago about footnotes not working within Advanced Custom Fields WYSIWYG fields.

I'm revamping a site for a client who has close to 1,000 existing posts that use the plugin for footnotes. Would love to be able to continue using the same plugin for future posts within the ACF layout. Any thoughts?

Hello @dadra

This is an issue that's worth taking a look into. I'll find a solution to this.

Thanks for bringing it up again.

Patrick.

That's great, Patrick! Thank you! It just occurred to me to mention that one potentially tricky aspect of making this work is that there may be multiple WYSIWYG fields on a page when using ACF Flexible Content and Repeater fields. For example, a page might have this kind of layout:

[WYSIWYG]
[WYSIWYG]
[WYSIWYG]

For optimal integration with ACF, the plugin would find all instances of footnotes in the various WYSIWYG's, and then aggregate them into a single footnotes list at the bottom of the page.

I should also mention that I'm using ACF within the classic editor, not the block editor.

Thoughts? :-)

Hi Patrick. Just wondering if you've had a chance to look into this feature request. I'm close to launching an updated website for a client that uses the old plugin for lots of old posts, and we'd love to keep using it for new content created with ACF. :-)
