Describe the bug
Bug #1 - Can the Nomenclature in the Layout Tab match the Nomenclature in the Sequence Tab? ie: In the Layout Tab the Layers are named Inside and Outside while in the Sequence Tab they are named Strand 1 (inside) and Strand 2 (outside)
Bug #2 -When choosing the "Starting Location" (ie: Green Square Outside) shouldn't that equate to being Strand 1?
Bug #3 - In the Sequence Tab, Strand 1 (inside Arch in this case) shows all 70 nodes while in reality it is just nodes 1 thru 30 and Strand 2 (Outside Arch) just shows 40 nodes (1 thru 40) when in reality it should be Nodes 31 thru 70).

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
(and/or link to a short video showing the problem with audio track describing what you are doing)

  1. In Layout Tab check Layered Arches for an Arch.
  2. Change Layers from 1 to 2
  3. Change Inside to 30 and Outside to 40.
  4. Add any effect to Strand 1 and Strand 2.
  5. Double click on Strand 1 and Strand 2 to expand.

Expected behavior
Would Expect Strand 1 to be my Outside Arch since I selected Green Square Outside as my starting Location.
Would Expect Strand 1 to be Nodes 1 thru 40 and Strand 2 to be Nodes 41 thru 70.
Would Expect the same Nomenclature in the Layout Tab (Inside and Outside) and the Sequence Tab.

I don't see this changing but I see your points. xLights renders it from inside to outside based on layers but the data starting point is dictated by the "starting location". This would be tricky to implement and even worse to try and backport the existing sequences. I think this will just have to stay as is. Like other models the render model doesn't change based on the data connection point. It always renders left to right and in this case inside to outside. Strand 1 will (or should be) always the inside. Note too that the first strand is 30 nodes - it just wont strip back the extra 10 after the sequence was created. If you drop a new effect on "arches 1" - strand 1 - it will only populate the first 30 nodes.

@derwin12 derwin12 closed this as not planned Won't fix, can't repro, duplicate, stale Mar 8, 2024
