Multi-episode video & NFO files not being properly displayed (KODI 21.0 Omega) when using local information #25224
Comments
The bug is known. The fix has already been merged into Master. There is a backport for v21 pending... #25201 If we create a test build, are you willing to install and test? |
See this post for test build with the fix... https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=377480&pid=3197900#pid3197900 |
Downloaded and tested with both the multi-episode listed in my report and the multi-episode series finale. I used Information/Refresh and it worked for both without a hitch. If you'd like me to test 'Scan for new content' and try a full show refresh, to cover all the bases, let me know and I'll take a moment to sit down and go through the motions. The only reason I didn't do it now is because I'm lazy...and due to...(shakes magic eight-ball)...sun-spots. |
Thanks for testing and glad it is working. Regards |
Apologies for the long wait. "Scan for new content" and "Update Library" both appear to work as expected. Sadly, I must be a complete noob as I am unable to figure out "Scan to library". I Googled, checked the wiki, followed various links in your forum signature, and poked around Kodi quite a bit and could not figure out how to access that option. I realize it must be something I'm not understanding in what is required to have that option available, but I'm totally clueless as to what it is I'm missing. Do I need to be viewing a folder that is not part of my defined libraries, or be viewing a folder in a defined library that has nothing in it that has been ingested yet? Those are about the only two things that come to mind that I haven't tested yet. I'll keep poking around as time permits. If it's not too much of a trade-off in your time, a (hopefully) simple explanation of what I need to have setup in order to get that option would help me along. Even a link to some kind of clarification would be helpful. |
There may be other ways, but I see "Scan to Library" on folders of movies that are not in the library (yet, or that were removed on purpose), navigating from the Video top level. Define D:\Movies as a source named "Movies" that contains "movies", with the option "Movies are in separate folders..." turned on - do not scan when asked to avoid adding to library too early. If you have that file structure, but all your movies are in the library, use context menu > manage > remove on one, then go to the movie folder through Videos. The context menu of the folder will have Scan to Library. |
Bug report
Describe the bug
Here is a clear and concise description of what the problem is:
When ingesting a multi-episode video file with single/shared NFO & single/shared thumb (e.g. "Star Trek: The Next Generation 1x01 & 1x02 - Encounter at Farpoint", both episodes show up in the episode list as separate entries, but only the information for the first episode is displayed - the second episode is listed only as an episode number with no other information (no name, no episode description, no actor or other information), however the shared thumb is displayed. Previous versions showed each episode as a discreet entry with separate descriptions/information and a shared thumb.
I've tried varying the naming convention used, including using the examples suggested in the Wiki without success.
I have not tested this using Kodi's "native" scraping capability - only via the option for using locally stored information with both newly created NFO files and older NFO files that were known to produce the desired results with previous versions of Kodi.
Expected Behavior
Here is a clear and concise description of what was expected to happen:
Expected behavior is that both episodes would be displayed as discreet episodes with their unique description, actor, etc. information while sharing the same thumb.
Actual Behavior
Actual behavior is per description provided in "Describe the bug" above.
Possible Fix
I can't offer any useful suggestions for how to 'fix' this (if it is, indeed, unintended behavior), but only ask that the behavior of previous versions be restored, or the wiki be updated to reflect the new behavior and the proper NFO syntax for correct multi-episode display within Kodi.
