I've installed XChat Azure on a Mac. Currently, I have the 1.18.9 version (latest one on the App Store).

My Mac account is configured in Catalan language, so XChat shows most literals in Catalan. Anyhow, there are some untranslated strings. For instance:

  • Favorite
  • Auto connect
  • Show details
  • Connect in a new tab
  • Not Connected
  • Topic is not set

...and many more on the menus and possibly in some dialogs.

I would like to contribute to XChat with the remaining Catalan string translations. I forked xchataqua/xchat which has a /po/ca.po file but none of the aforementioned strings are there.

I also updated the ca.po file with xchataqua/tools/localization/po/xchat.pot but the remaining literals are still not there.

Nor in the xchataqua/xchataqua repository on file xchataqua/tools/localization/po/ca.strings

So, how can I contribute to XChat with translation?

Thank you.

Three lines summary:

  1. Copy https://github.com/xchataqua/xchataqua/tree/master/tools/localization/strings/en to ca
  2. Translate it
  3. Create a PR with it

Hi Roger,

XChat Azure localization text is consist of 2 parts of difference source.
Basically it reuses the xchat translation as much as possible - yes, the po/ca.strings is that one.
I once imported it from translationproject.org but not sure the project is still alive or not.

Unfortunately, the original xchat localization is based on gtk version, it doesn't perfectly fit for XChat Aqua/Azure. I am managing that part in https://github.com/xchataqua/xchataqua/tree/master/tools/localization/strings/en and depending on contributors. Welcome and thanks for contributing to a new language!

A personal note: When I started to contribute to xchat aqua project, the only goal was enabling localization to see my language in the app. This is one of the happiest moment in the project because it reminded that time :) best luck!
