Recent Mac versions no longer ship with OpenSSL. This means that with commit 2658d02 Mac doesn't build without installing a private openssl. This is obviously doable but I think the real fix is to use Apple native CommonCrypto as we did in Qserv (for example commit lsst/qserv@c336f51 ). I haven't had a chance to sort out a patch and I'm not sure when I will get around to it but thought I should log this information.
