iodine is running properly on the server end and I've verified the tunnel is running by using https://code.kryo.se/iodine/check-it/
the client is able to connect to the tunnel but unable to ping it

Has your setup ever worked to pass data? Try in an environment which is not limiting network traffic first (with and without raw mode).

This is a support request, not an issue with the code. Ask on iodine-users mailing list if you need help.
