As it is currently, catox is a proprietary code, since that's what missing license means.
I think that it's not the desired state of things?

If you are not sure which one to pick, there's https://tldrlegal.com/

Depending on what you want, you most likely may want to pick one of "main" licenses:

  • GPLv3 :3 ( I would strongly suggest to go with that one, considering that most of Tox stuff is under it )
  • MIT
  • BSD
  • LGPL-3

You're absolutely correct that catox is not meant to be proprietary. I set the license to ISC in package.json but didn't include a license.md. Thanks for letting me know! I'll do that now.

(Catox might as well be public domain though; I've pretty much decided to abandon it and to eventually rewrite it as a converse wrapper.)
