In the world of hacker, when you throw out a technical question, whether or not you end up with a useful answer often depends on the way you ask and follow up. The How To Ask Questions The Smart Way teaches you how to ask the right questions to get answers you're happy with, and some excerpts are shared here with Here are some excerpts to share with you.

Before asking a question /

Before you get ready to ask a question via Issue, try searching for the answer yourself by various means, including but not limited to:

When asking a question /

Please show that you have made the above efforts; this will help to establish that you are not a questioner who wastes other people's time without getting something for it. Asking questions or starting discussions on technical topics in the community is encouraged, but there is an art to asking questions.

  • Please follow the topic template to describe your problem as detailed, clear, correct and concise as possible. /
    • Ineffective questions that often waste everyone's time to read and understand and may not have anyone to answer them for you.
  • Please give the question an accurate title, as well as choosing its correct category and label. /
  • It is crucial to have some courtesy when asking questions, especially when asking questions of individuals through the community. /
    • No one else is obligated to necessarily give you a solution to a problem, especially if that problem takes quite a bit of time to sort out and answer. /
    • Questions should be asked politely and you are able to show your appreciation whether or not they end up being answered. Being polite will certainly increase your chances of getting a useful response.

After the questioning is done /

If your problem has already been resolved, then you need to:

  • Select [Close] for the issue so that your issue can be considered resolved. /
    • Only questions with [Close] selected will be searched faster, and this way it will also help others find the answer more efficiently. /
    • This will also save time for all of us, and we should save our time for those issues that really need to be addressed. /
  • Express gratitude to the person who answered the question, as no one is obligated to have to help you with your question. /

If your problem has not been solved, please continue to follow up and provide feedback on the problem you are experiencing, preferably with tips or screenshots.
