Setting up a composition definition is time-consuming and very much like programming. It is doubtful that a large number of musicians will be willing to put up with it. I myself am reluctant to go through it as I'm working on my current music project “Soufflé Drop”.
Once we have made the normalization algorithm configurable with ticket #85, it will be possible to create a Normalizer config for a simplified composition definition, which is a step in the right direction.
However, I want to be able to create an Ableton Live set and just write up a minimum composition file that just tells Zapperment how many clips are in how many tracks.
This means I need to be able to configure a Normalizer that works with the info which clips and which tracks are playing.
The downside: The feedback collected as training data for the compositions with this kind of Normalizer config will only me applicable to a specific track, just like in the initial versions of Zapperment before the Grievous release.
The upside: No tedious composition definition setup.
With this ticket implemented, it will be the producer's choice which way to go.
