First class DEX support. #3230
Comments
From a lot of conversations with a lot of people in the cybercoin industry, I've concluded that the current de facto standard for cross-chain transactions is Lightning Network. Examples include Stellar and Radar, which are treating Lightning Network as (currently) their only strategy for interoperating with other chains. Also that just seems to be the general social consensus and to generally get the heads nodding in all the conversations I've been in. Cross-chain? Someone says. Yep, Lightning, someone replies. Heads nod. |
Not Interledger? I liked the Interledger protocol. |
To add to casual reader, there's a nice explanation from the Interledger mailing list about Lightning and Interledger and others: https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-interledger/2017Feb/0020.html (too long to be replicated here; and tangentially noting, it appears Ethereum people may nod to different things). |
Agoric are planning to use Polkadot. |
This ticket represents broad feature selection criteria to improve DEX support. There are two tasks:
For 1, we can document "best" as we discuss/decide. I posit that we should weight "deployed to production" very heavily. Stuff that has shipped is worth a fair deal more than stuff that's "about to ship".
Potential things in category 1 include "old school" XCAT, ZRelay, lightning network.[1]
Related tickets include (at least): #559, #2237
[1] I'm not aware of BOLT providing similar cross-chain functionality that lightning advertises. We should look into that, and the BOLT authors should clarify if that's an existing feature, a future goal, or a non-goal.
