Allow marking several panes in order to be able to perform actions on them simultaneously, as well as:

  1. If issuing the "full screen" command (ctrl+p + f) in a pane that's part of a group, it will expand until the border of the group. Issuing the command a second time will expand it fully to the whole screen
  2. Resize the pane group as a whole rather than just individual panes
  3. Turn all group members into floating panes and vice-versa
  4. More?
