Description

LIOS is a free and open-source software designed for converting printed text into digital format using scanners or cameras. It is also capable of generating text from scanned images sourced from various formats, including PDFs, images, image folders, or screenshots. The program ensures complete accessibility for visually impaired users through a graphical user interface (GUI). Leveraging OCR engines like Tesseract and Cuneiform, LIOS facilitates the conversion of images to text.

Significantly, LIOS is included in the Debian repository and distinguishes itself as the exclusive accessible OCR user interface within the GNU/Linux environment. Furthermore, it has been developed inclusively, allowing many sighted individuals to also benefit from its features.

Hii @Nalin-x-Linux ,

I am Akanshu Aich, a third year BTech student from International Institute of Information Technology, Bhubaneswar. I am writing to express my interest in contributing to this project as a part of DMP 2024. Having thoroughly reviewed the project, I am impressed by its objectives and it seeks the potential for great impact in industries.

With my background in Backend using Django , MERN with practicing hands on Machine learning and DevOps such as Docker, I believe I can make valuable contributions to Machine learning part . My experience includes several projects like Society-Expenditure Manager using Django, Real Estate using MERN and Info-Finding Tool using Machine Learning(LLM), which I believe align well with the goals of your project.

I am particularly interested in fulfilling the requirements of the project and have some ideas on how to approach it effectively. I am committed to adhering to best practices, contributing high-quality code, and actively collaborating with the project maintainers and community.

I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to "Linux-Intelligence-OCR-Solution - LIOS - Enhancement" and help further its mission. I look forward to discussing potential contributions and how I can best support the project.

Hey @Nalin-x-Linux , I wish to work on this project as a part of C4GT program. I am a pre-final year student at IIIT Delhi, India and I believe I will able to contribute positively to the project. Since I recently got to know about this program, and the deadline is approaching, could you please give me a clarity on what steps should I take to showcase you my dedication and make my proposal strong?

Furthermore, it'd be great if I could get your discord so that I can work directly under your supervision.

Awaiting your reply.

thank you
