CMake release and test

CMake by default define NDEBUG with using Release (or RelWithDebInfo) which is not working well with tests.

Should we use in the project another function/macro instead of "assert" for test assertions?

I would much rather prefer overriding cmake. Having to change something simple and well understood due to the quirks of a particular build system is not nice IMHO
