shortcodes don't seem to work

Not sure if this is PEBKAC, a theme issue or a hugo one, but adding parameter lookups such as {{ .Now.Year }} or {{ .Site.Params.title }} into the .md files doesn't render for me. See http://github.com/dch/blog/ for exact setup.

According to this issue on the Hugo repo the Go templates syntax you're describing doesn't work in markdown.

Might be worth a shot defining your own shortcode like {{% site_title %}}, where layouts/shortcodes/site_title.html contains:

{{ .Page.Site.Title }}

Issue is not in scope for themes, it's a Hugo problem. Closing.
