Git & Hacktoberfest

Use this project to make your first contribution to an open source project on GitHub. Practice making your first pull request to a public repository before doing the real thing! Celebrate Hacktoberfest by getting involved in the open source community by completing some simple tasks in this project.

This repository is open to all members of the GitHub community. Any member may contribute to this project without being a collaborator. You can make a profile of yourself on the community's github page.

What is Hacktoberfest?

A month-long celebration from October 1st - 31st sponsored by Digital Ocean and GitHub to get people involved in Open Source. Create your very first pull request to any public repository on GitHub and contribute to the open source developer community. https://hacktoberfest.digitalocean.com

How to contribute to this project?

You need to have at least 5 pull requests to clear hacktoberfest. Here is a quick way to contribute to this project:

  • Copy _profile/_template.md and create a new file with your username. Please remember to use your username so the file name does not have any spaces in it.
  • Submit a PR with the blank template file.
  • Fill details in the file iteratively and make a PR. You need to do that 4 more times at least.

Basic Instructions

  • Fork this repository (click the Fork button in the top right of the repository page).

  • Clone your fork down to your local machine using:

    git clone https://github.com/your-username/hacktoberfest.git
    
  • Create a new branch

    git checkout -b "[BRANCH NAME]"
    
  • Make your changes and then commit and push those changes using:

    git add .
    git commit -m "[COMMIT MESSAGE HERE]"
    git push origin "[BRANCH NAME]"
    
  • Create a pull request from the changes of this new branch using the Github site.

  • Wait for your PR review and merge approval! and Star this repository if you had fun!
