Either
1) get rid of unicode symbols almost completely (but leave declarations?)
or
2) leave as is and verify if all IDE-s support them (Eclipse, NetBeans, IntelliJ)

Investigate inlining of code that uses vecmath. There are some possible options:
1) Scala compiler plug-in. There is little documentation about this.
2) ASM Framework for byte-code manipulation.
3) Other byte-code manipulation frameworks.

What it should do is reduce Vector/Matrix creations by:
1) remove temporary vectors and matrices from method code and replace them with primitive calculations
2) replace fields with primitives as well in some cases? (this might be too much)

val v: Vector2f

turns into

val v$x: Float
val v$y: Float

This can be done in Scala 2.8 with:

package object vecmath {
type FPNum = Float // = Double }

But constant values would have to be manually changed, or type annotations added where the Float type is currently inferred.
