Abstract:

The LIGO-Virgo observations of gravitational waves from mergers of neutron stars and/or black holes allow us to test the predictions of Einstein's theory of General Relativity, for the first time, in previously unexplored regimes of relativistic, dynamical, strong-field gravity. In this talk, we will discuss how we extract the properties of the source of gravitational waves, from the data and consequently, how we use that information to test predictions of general relativity in the highly non-linear regime of gravity, described by these mergers.
