Sublime Text makes it easy to extend and customise an existing theme without the need to duplicate or modify the original theme files. If you'd like to tweak Soda Theme, take a look that the theme customisation page.
Soda theme is designed to work with the latest development build of Sublime Text 2. ST2 dev builds move quickly and changes can be made to the core theme API between releases, so there may be occassions where the theme temporarily doesn't quite work with a brand new dev release.
