During the month of October, participants "apply" to our project(s) by contributing to Chisel in some way. This means figuring out how to navigate our Gitter, Discource, GitHub, etc to get help from the community, and successfully figure out how to get a helpful PR through. Please welcome them, and feel free to @-mention me (@mwachs5 ) as I am our Outreachy community coordinator.

I have been trying out git and made a clone of chisel 3.
on checking status this is what returned.

I wanted to attach a screenshot though.
Hopefully that link will show the picture!
I think i missed something!
What could it be for me to get a positive message?

You should force it with -rf.
Something like rm -rf .git

Ah, removing directories requires a recursive removal, so try

rm -r .git

Hi @ibukenya, do you already have an environment to edit code in? If not, I recommend installing IntelliJ IDEA (the free community version): https://www.jetbrains.com/idea/download/#section=mac

If you already have a preferred IDE, you can stick with that!

@debs-sifive, I have Zoom though my computer has no webcam but I could use my phone if there is need for video!

Video is not required, but if you want to screenshare for pair programming, please check that Zoom has permissions for that

Please what about the timeline of the work to be accomplished on the project?

The general steps can be found on the project description page:

- Learn how making edits to the Chisel documentation ends up live on the website. You will learn about release versioning and backports. You will start with small whitespace or grammar edits and see through to the website.

- You will design a format in markdown for presenting information side by side. You will learn about markdown formatting.

- You will add at least one verilog vs Chisel comparison as an example to your website page. Doing this will require you to learn very basic chisel and verilog concepts, with the aid of the community and web tutorials.

- You will solicit contributions to your website page, and review any contributions you receive

- You will add more comparisons to your page

So, you can tailor this for your own timeline (taking into account any vacations or other commitments you have planned) and adjusting for things you feel like you are already comfortable with given your contributions so far.

We could also add something at the end for exploring other projects if this is done quickly.
